WHO WE ARE
We are the American Association of Portuguese-Speaking Psychoanalysts (AAPSP), an organization dedicated to bringing together psychoanalysts and related professionals who share the Portuguese language in the United States. Our mission is to strengthen psychoanalytic practice through research activities, clinical workshops, and theoretical seminars, fostering an environment of collaboration, excellence, and innovation. We value cultural diversity and strive to create an inclusive and welcoming community, committed to advancing psychoanalytic knowledge and professional ethics.

Our History
The AAPSP was born out of the need to create an integration space for psychoanalysts and professionals from related fields with roots in Portuguese-speaking countries such as Brazil, Portugal, Angola, and Cape Verde. Founded with the purpose of providing support and promoting the exchange of knowledge, the association held its first meeting on July 16, 2020, virtually, during which the first board members were elected. Since then, we have been dedicated to building an independent, democratic, and nonprofit institution that serves as a support network for its members, offering periodic scientific meetings, certifications, and information on professional practices in the United States.
