Maria Prisce Cleto

Supervising Psychoanalyst

Psychoanalyst trained at the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis in Rio de Janeiro; holds a degree in Psychology (1978); postgraduate studies in Higher Education Methodology at UFF; specialization in Maternal-Infant Management at Fiocruz; master's degree in Psychoanalysis, Health, and Society at UVA, among other courses. She has had a private practice in Niterói and Rio de Janeiro since 1980.


She worked at the Municipal Health Department of São Gonçalo for 30 years, overseeing the Birth Humanization Program, Breastfeeding, and Violence programs. She implemented and managed projects for high-risk prenatal care and structured the Violence Program, training and educating healthcare professionals in collective and hospital health throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro. She developed intervention videos for prenatal and childcare waiting rooms.

She was part of the Technical Group on Breastfeeding at the State Health Department and participated as a representative of the Municipal Health Department in the creation and implementation of the Perinatal Forum for Metropolitan Region II in Rio de Janeiro. She is a member of the Primary Health Commission at ABENEPI/RJ, where she helps organize and teach in the Mental Health Training Course. She is also a member of the Pré-Aut research team in Rio de Janeiro.


Currently, she focuses on the following themes: Subject Constitution, Maternal and Paternal Functions, the Primordial Other, Psychoanalysis in Public Health, and Early Interventions.


She has published articles in Infanto magazine, in the CRP/05 journal, in the training course materials for CSP/ABENEPI-RJ, in Interfaces of the Clinic with Babies (Edições Bagaço, Recife, 2008), in Psychoanalysis and Clinical Work with Babies: Symptom, Treatment, and Interdisciplinarity in Early Childhood (Edições Instituto Langage, São Paulo, 2010), in The Baby and Words: A Transdisciplinary Perspective on Babies (Edições Instituto Langage, São Paulo, 2013), and in CAIS Passagem - Volume 2: Dialogues in Baby Clinic, with the article Play as a Structuring Device of the Psyche (Editora Artesã, 2021), among others.


She is a professor at the ESPE Institute, teaching postgraduate courses on Psychoanalysis with Children and Adolescents, and she coordinates the postgraduate program on Psychoanalysis and Baby Clinic.

She leads study groups on Freud and clinical supervision.

She is a faculty analyst at the NEIPSY Institute and a member of the AAPSP in the United States. She also coordinates the Baby Network in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
